He may have availed himself of support from the Poor Law in Glasgow,, depending on how he left Poland, my have no money. Might be worth contacting the Mitchell Library to see if there is a record of him in the Poor Law records.

if you look up the valuation roll on ScotlandsPeople for 1865, you can search by place, put in 8 fox lane, in Leith Burgh.
There are 24 people listed living in 8 Fox Lane.
One of the names is Thomas MacKenzie

You can lookup valuation rolls on scotlandspeople for 1905 & 1915, possibly staying with another relative. You say she was in Newcastle in 1911, but may have just been visiting at the time of census. Alternately, you could contact the Mitchell library in Glasgow, they have many more valuation Rolls ...

This is the 1913 map for Elderpark Street. It is still done today in Glasgow as far as I know,or at least on one occasion, a neighbour of mine (when I was living in Glasgow) had all the relatives met at his house, for his son's wedding they left on a bus and money was thrown out for the kids in the street, this was about 7 years ago, though ...

Sadly no Scotlandspeople don't have it. Years ago Glasgow & West of Scotland Family History Society (GWSFHS) indexed the poor law, I know many members were volunteering in the Mitchell Transcribing the whole poor law, but was slow and time consuming, not sure where that project had got to.
