Stuck on John Dougal

Hi all,
I have John Dougal in my tree as ggggreat grandfather. I believe he was married to a Helen McNair around 1802 but I can’t find any marriage record of this. I suspect she may have previously married as she was 25 ish when she married John judging the dates. They had 3 children Jean (1805) Thomas (1807) and Neil (1817)

The children were born in Lanark and there was a suggestion they were married in Lanark too. If anyone can help I would be grateful as I need this info so I can find the next step up the gene ladder

i think you may need to give us a little more information.

where did you find the details of the children and their year/place of birth?

Were they born in Lanark town or Lanarkshire? [vast difference as the shire takes in Glasgow too]

I'm not seeing any matching births anywhere, and it's too early for census records to hold clues.

Did either the parents live beyond 1855?

if we know what records and information you do have, we can maybe suggest other places to look.

Hi Wilma,
I found details of the children via some pauper records kindly sent to me and confirmed these on Scotland’s people. They were born in Lanarkshire , cambusnethan area.

I’m trying to obtain Johns birth certificate or entry but need his parents names from a wedding cert to confirm the date.
