I haven't heard of Syboes since I visited my sister, who had moved from Glasgow to London in the early sixties. We went shopping on the Saturday afternoon, and she was buying salad. "Lettuce, a pound of tomatoes and a bunch of syboes please". The shopkeeper looked dumbstruck! "She means spring onions!" I said helpfully. "Oh do I really? Madam Poshie" she said. "They are syboes where I come from".
