I found that earthgoogle is not completely accurate. For instance they have given my street the name of a street that runs north and south, whereas my street runs east to west. My street is completely in the wrong place.

That poses an interesting question Ina. How does Google insert/overlay/or what ever the names of streets, towns etc.

A question for you Ina, did your orientate the map, if you did apologies.

Do they us an A2Z, Multimap or is some 'slave' sitting there typing on all the names around the world (unlikely).

I have also just noticed tha Andrew P is the siteadmin bod. Andrew can you throw any light on this matter?

Site Admin bod, I may be, but I have no idea how Google Earth finds or overlays its street data or the like.

All the best,

Hi all
What has been noted in my household by the resident "map" person is that some of the streets are not named correctly - this would appear to be not an error but a deliberate ploy to avoid or entrap? copyright infringements. "Great Western Road" in Glasgow was one such oddly named street recently though it now seems to be named correclty - it was Inverquhomery Road!
Whether these are randomly generated street names or what I don't know.....

Best wishes
Lesley
