Just had a quick look at some websites selling software,and Family Tree Maker looks a good deal with 6 months free access to Ancestry.
I'd value your opinions on this.

It appears you can send a PDF file by email with Family Historian. I haven't tried it yet but this is what it says:
Family Historian's support for PDF file output is only enabled if you have Windows 2000, or a later version of Windows such as Windows 7, Vista or XP. PDF file output does not work, and is not enabled, if you have Windows 98 or ME.
Saving items in PDF format is very convenient for a number of purposes - here are some:
•It can be a useful way of sending charts and reports to other people - for example, as email attachments. The standard viewer (Adobe Reader) is free and easily available. If your recipient doesn't already have it, they can download it from the Internet.

I bought Family Historian several months ago. There's a lot to learn and I'm still trying to get my head round some (most) of the stuff but I think it's very good.
