Marilyn,

Behave yourself. If my webcam is anything to go by, everyone is a bit 'grainy' anyway. But it's still great.
"Grainy" ah that sounds better. As far as behaving, whoops that train has left the station.

Gotta go, its been a very long day

Hi Marilyn,

How's that? Well it had to be a tall (alcoholic) drink, didn't it. [cheers]

Cheers Rye

We did have a toast [pour-drink] a few weeks ago. I have to think back to my College days, since I had a beer, I mean Ginger Ale that early in the afternoon.

Good Night

Hi All,

I have used both Skype and Windows Live Messenger for video/audio calls. It looks like AIM should be able to be used for the same, but I have only used that for text chat.

When a video call is finished, I always turn the webcam to face the wall or the ceiling. I have this (unfounded?) fear of being watched without knowing it.

All the best,

Andrew

Please excuse me if this is a really thick question, but do you need head phones and a micro phone for Skype to work?

I've installed it but the audio part isn't set up properly and I'm a bit lost.

Hi Miss Poohs,

I think Skype can be used for text chat, so no headphones or microphone required for that. Most users use Skype for audio, or audio and video, and for these microphone, or microphone and webcam are required.

All the best,

It depends on your set up .......... you probably have a speaker. Have a look at your system specification, as there may be an inbuilt microphone somewhere. If that's the case, then no need for separate headphones and a microphone.

That written, setting up the speaker and an internal microphone to work with software such as Skype can be a pain.

Marilyn,

I cannot believe that you have only just awakened to the fact that Skype exists! Told you about it yonks ago! I obviously have no talent as a publicity agent.

Andrew,
In spite of arm-twisting by members of the family, I've refused to install a web cam. Horrible invention. Late one morning, I was wandering around the living room while my cousin was on Skype on his computer. 'Who on earth is that person in a dressing gown?' enquired his friend.

Best wishes
