Oooh Donna :!:

My heart sank at the very thought.
Sometimes an adrenaline rush can be good - at other times you just want to crawl into a corner and cry.

Computers are like childen you need to give them 100% of your time and attention or wave goodbye to a nights/weeks/months/years work at the press of a button.
These 'ARE YOU SURE' reminders may be a pain but I'm glad they are there.

I'm glad you were able to recover so much. Bet your back-up has a back-up now!

OWWW!!! Donna, we all feel for you, and so lucky you were able to get all your hard work back. I think someone up above really does like genealogist

Russell you are so right about the searches taking us over, many a time I have gone online to just do a quick check on things only to look at the clock and see it is 2 in the morning

And as we all know :? "Tomorrow Never Comes"

Hi Sandy

You're dragging yesterday into today!
What are you doing up at this time of your morning?

I believe they are working on Anti-genealogy patches for us addicts. These will be fashioned into mitts so we can't operate the keyboard.
 (A pencil between the teeth works though!)

Wonder what a scared Genealogist looks like because this thread obviously scared quite a few of us.
Even the consciencious back-up takers.

8)

Morning all...the light's hurting as I've not long wandered out my darkened room!

The problem was doing an update & wee search whilst having one of the bairns on my knee.......not to be recommended. ....but I was on a mission!

You're quite right Russell, I'm doing a spare disk to take to my mum & dad's place....I've put a wee disaster recovery project in operation here....one of those off-site things John was talking about and I've used a small rainforest in printing off all vital info, it's on the new PCs hard drive.

I'm now going to try and have a whole day away from the PC....I'm going to have to steal myself to switch that off button.....not that I have a problem

Cheerio to you all for now
Donna

They'd have to make damn good patches for them to work for me
coz this is one addiction I don't want to break
And its the only one I have, mmmmmmmmm besides chocolate mmm and say, coffee. ( and a secret stash of pencils )

And yes this thread has brought all of us back to the reality that it can happen ( the dreaded crash) and when you least expect it to. A very good reminder for us all.

Now Lesley that's contradictory!

This is the happiest bunch of people I know and you are calling us "SAD"

I am now coming to the conclusion that it was not an electronic glitch which scuppered the beach party - It was an overload of puns, jokes, Smileys, and brilliant repartee. :? :) :D
