You would think that as SP recommends ActiveX there would be a sort of link straight to it.
No
So if anyone else needs to look for it You go to "My Details" scroll down to "click here test browser for compatibility with each image viewer" once youve clicked there you will find ActiveX.
..............but still looking for Lotus
Was sent a "convertor" to open Works files with Word.
Most importantly AOL home page is back
Im almost begining to feel normal again

Hello Tracey,
Have you tried this with your Lotus LWPs?
http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/in ... 126AAOJtnF
After installation start the program and open the file from there.
If it’s a Lotus database file this converter may work

Here’s an excellent free alternative to Microsoft Office

Alan,
Does OpenOffice open Word? The Home version of Vista only has Works on it. I have 20 free chances to open a Word docuement, then I'm supposed to buy Microsoft Office for $150. ! No thanks! I have used OpenOffice in the distant past on a different computer, but that was 5-6 yrs. ago.

Hello Carol,
I’m still using MS Office XP on my Windows machine mainly because I got it at a good price. But I use Open Office on my Linux machine and it opens and edits all the documents I have that were created in MS Office. I think it would serve the purpose for 90% of people and it’s very easy to get used to.
It costs nothing so there’s nothing to lose by trying it out. The only catch is that it comes in one bundle with all its Word, Excel, Power Point etc substitutes and is a 130MB download. Definitely worth the wait if you can wait that long and there’s no shortage of documentation.
If you can’t download it there are copies of the CD available on Ebay and you’ll even see companies giving them away if you google “open office cd”. But I suppose you have to consider whether you can trust the people you’re getting them from.
This is the main Open Office site http://www.openoffice.org/
I think Microsoft are pretty mean and stingy to be supplying something as basic as Works especially when it would cost them absolutely nothing to supply something better, even something that isn’t the latest version.
Whoever thought up that 20 free chances gimmick deserves to be put away.
All the best,
Alan

Thank you Currie - again !
I have three files that need to be opened with Lotus and i am going to copy them to Word and if they wernt family history related i would just trash them.
I was reading a post somewhere else regarding Open Office and the person asking after it was a bit concerned about the absence of an equivalent of Outlook and to cut along story short (er) a reply later on by a guy who was in IT said
When I worked in IT, I learned that Outlook wasn't nicknamed Lookout for nothing
Probably an old IT joke but it made me laugh

Thanks Alan,
Someone gave me a disc last time, but I'll check it out before I try to install it on this computer.
The Word/Works thing: It's pure greed! I don't mind paying a little more, but $150. just to get Word is too much.
