Advice regarding uploaded file yesterday

Post by Kath » Tue Dec 02, 2008 4:47 pm

Hello group, I apologise if I am requesting help in the wrong place. I uploaded a file to the gallery yesterday, called HASTIE Wm MALOY Mary MAR 1856 Perth, requesting help with reading some of the writing, but when I click on it today all is see is an OPR for Bellie Kirk Session - Margaret Symon & ? 1887.

Is it me, my computer, or is something amiss??
Thanks, Kath.

Well the Kirk Session one you are seeing is mine, and I just went into the gallery and can't see your file. Either the Mods haven't approved it or it hasn't uploaded.

But I am sure one of them will be along shortly to say if they can see it.
Maggie

Thank you Andrew and Maggie, As long as some people are seeing it OK, that is fine. I still see the Bellie OPR when I click on it. Mebbe the snow and ice here addling my wee brain or my mouse. LOL. :D

Thank you Carol that is something more than I managed. They are all Irish names. I might ask for a print out and see if that is clearer.

Many thanks, Kath.

Hi Kath,
Welcome to Talking Scot! [talkingscot]
I have been staring for about 10 minutes at that cert and am none the wiser. However, I'm pretty sure  that the second one is Mc-something. It looks quite a bit like the last name of John Steward Mc-whatever who was the first witness (clergyman?). The first name looks more like Ingireid to me... but that doesn't sound like much of a name

Perhaps someone will come along who will recognize what they should be. Were both William and Mary born in Ireland then, or were they born in Scotland? Just wondering if you could track down some siblings whose marriage certs might be clearer...

All the best,
Sarah

Best I can do is:-

William Heasty, farmer, deceased and Mary ????

John Melloy, Stoneware dealer and Margaret Mc????

Indicating that neither set of parents were married.

Signed John Stewart "Something"
19 Catholic Clergyman.

Peter Murphy

Ann Melloy.

For some reason I cannot transfer this certificate into any photo editing programme to zoom in on the image :?

Best wishes
Jean

Hi Kath,

If this is the Maloy family showing on the 1851 Census living in the 5th house, Crieff, Perth then there is an Imrie family living next door in the 4th house. Maybe that first name is Mary Imrie?

I interpret the last column as:

(signed)
John Stewart ______ (Murphy(?))
R. Catholic Clergyman
(signed)
Peter Murphy
Ann Meloy (McLoy?)

All the best,
