Family Tree Maker file fix

I just had a quick glance and can't see this topic, so...

For a long time now my FTM2006 wouldn't let me create gedcom files, and all my backups were the same. It started crashing on one particular family group - so I knew where the problem was but even deleting them from a second copy didn't fix it. I'd just about decide that I was going to start again in a new file...

But I just turned up this entry and it fixed my problem so I wanted to pass it on for anyone in the future.

ctrl + alt + c
(compresses and fixes)
didn't work for me

ctrl + alt + shift + arrow up
(lists errors)
I had 5

ctrl + alt + shift + arrow left
(fixes errors)
Worked. No errors! I can now export gedcom and ctrl+alt+c works, thanks to

Hello Maggie,

There’s a bit more information here. However I’m not very familiar with FTM. Is this the same as you’ve described? The check/repair function for the program I use (PAF5) is just a simple entry on the File menu. http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/su ... 14006.html

Yes that looks to be the same thing. The thread I was reading said that they didn't have an external repair program - someone suggested it - so what you found must be later.

I have bookmarked that in case I ever need it again [-o<
