TS Access Problem

Post by Montrose Budie » Sat Jan 21, 2012 4:25 pm

This is the first day for quite few days that I've been able to access the forum

What's been the problem and have others had a similar problem ?

I have taken the matter up with our hosts, who are looking in to the matter. For those who are experiencing the problems accessing the TS forum, it seems to be intermittent (more often than not, not being able to access the forum).

All the best,

AndrewP

Intermittent indeed ! After making the above post I was again unable to get into the fotum a few minutes later.

This time I've entered the forun by clicking on a link in an email, and then logging in .......

Hi Andrew and MB
I initially had some problems a few days ago, but today and yesterday I have had no problems. I use a link in my favourites to log in.
I also wonder if the time difference could make a difference (less traffic).

For the record, I have had no trouble accessing the forum, so the night/day thing can't be it (I'm only an hour ahead of Scotland). I am automatically logged in each time-- is that it? Or is it a mac/pc thing (I use a mac)? Don't see why it would be. Are they favoring people in Europe for some odd reason?

Anyway, it's difficult to figure out what is going on, because the problem doesn't seem to be treating everyone equally :?

Regards,
Sarah

I can only log in using an existing link in my Firefox browser. If I try in IE or Chrome, the talkingscot.com level loads without any difficulty, but the forum link gives me:

Greetings Lindsay.

I started having similar problems earlier in the week and wondered if I had set it all off. I had a string of windows open on my slow dial up, old machine, trying to capture data from a grunty FreeCem results and compare with my earlier research files, OPR research files, and correspondence with other Genealogical Researchers who's experience I've come to rely on. I was in the process of opening a link from a TS forum post to a RootsChat post when my machine stalled.

Upon restarting I was unable to dial up my direct FAVOURITES logon but could get to the TS home pages by typing in the full address, but not get action when clicking on the FORUM icon. There after the Fatal Flaw message appeared, so I flicked that message, in a copy and paste, over to an email directly to one of mb's fellow Advisory Committee members on my 19th, asking if they could on forward to AndrewP. I felt that they possibly had other means of contacting him, even when they expressed surprise that I was experiencing TS logon problems. Then several of us from down under got into discussion with LeslieB about our intermittant access problems, and she confirmed Andrew was doing all he could to fix the problem. Twenty three hours into my current day is the first time I have had access today, so now catching up.

We would be lost without the techno's. Or at least I would.

Allan SHARP.

I've had no problems! TS forum is the default page when I turn on my PC and I'm also automatically logged in. I also have a string of windows open and am in and out of the forum on and off day and night.

Anne H

I've been rejected many times in the last week and have tried all sorts - typing in the address; clicking on my link; Firefox, IE; accessing through my yahoo email did it for me once.

It doesn't appear to be a particular time, and what worked right now may not work again. It's a strange situation, but thankfully, we have Andrew!
