Hi to all.
Over the last 4-6 weeks I have been having a LOT of trouble in opening emailed images in tiff* form. The p[roblem is caused by MSPaper it is actually part of MSWorks & Office.
I have contacted Microsoft about this problem as I am using XP,MS Office 2002 & MS Works 2005,at first they did not want to know obout the problem, then I received a email from them explaining a fix for it.
When you go to open the image you get a window telling you that it will open in default (MSPaper)
What happens is that when you go to open an image you get nothing but alphabetical symbols making the image totally unreadable
Here in part is their reply.
There is a conflict between MS Office 2002 & MS Works 2005.
They have sent me a "patch" which includes the updates for Office 2002 SP 1 ,SP 2 & SP3.You must install SP 3 to be able to resolve this problem (SP3 actually includes SP1 & 2) Patch Number XP SP3 -Kb 832671.It also can be got from the Microsoft Download Site.
After you have downloaded & installed this patch,it calls for the CD of MS Works 2005 to be inserted and then it takes some dll. files that actually fixes the problem.
Hope this information may be useful to others who may be having the same problem

Hi Baldy
Another way round the programme conflict would be to save the images to a temp folder in My Images then open it with Irfanview. It can translate a range of images and allows you to mess around with them too.
Its a freebie download and totally reliable. Just Google to find the site (I've lost the URL!).
Useful when you download certificates from TS or SP too.
