Hello all,
I was wondering if there is a way to view or order a copy of a will found on the Scotlands People site . The information is as follows .
1 Johnstone James Barbour 01/04/1885 Rev., 2 Glebe Terrace, Dumfries, d. 27/01/1885 at 2 Glebe Terrace, testate Dumfries Sheriff Court SC15/41/20 No Image
Can I send a payment and request a copy of the above will?
Happy Hunting,
HeatherH

Hi Heather,
Try contacting the National Archives of Scotland (NAS) for an answer to that one.
see http://www.nas.gov.uk/contact/default.asp

Hi Heather
Best wishes

Do you mean a photocopy on paper? I'm maybe misunderstanding you here....apologies if I am. The wills are able to be viewed and are downloadable from the Scotland People site for payment of £5 with a credit or debit card. You can then print them out yourself.was wondering if there is a way to view or order a copy of a will found on the Scotlands People site . The information is as follows .

Note that the £5 cost is regardless of the number of pages involved in the document, - in other words, whether the testamentary document found on ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk is 1 or 100 pages, the cost to view and download the document is just £5.-- .LesleyB wrote:Hi HeatherDo you mean a photocopy on paper? Be aware, however, that these document copies are based on high quality colour scans, so that the average size of the image file is around 1Mb, - although, depending on the original document format, this can often cover two pages. In other words, if you only have a dial-up connection, perhaps it would be better to find a friend with a broadband connection

Hi Heather,
In a change to my answer given above, SP seems to be faulty just now, giving "no image" messages where an image is known to exist.

Hopefully this will be resolved soon (over the weekend?). I expect somebody will reply to the other message to report success when the repair is made. Then have another try for the will you are seeking.
All the best,
AndrewP
