In my FH program there is a field for what Religion people were. Just wondering how you can tell this from a certificate?

I.e if they married in the Church of Scotland would they be Christian?

Thanks,
Andy

I certainly would have thought so. Church of Scotland, Catholic Church, Methodist, Presbyterian = Christian.
seeking McColl from Donegal and Greenock, McKay from Antrim and Greenock;
Whiteford from Ballycastle and Greenock; Tucker from Port Glasgow, and McGinty.

I always where I know include religion.My ancestors have been in the main Church of Scotland/Free Church.However there are a few Episcopalians,RC& more recently Muslims&LDS.
It adds flavour to what you know about them & in some cases fills in blanks.
I love looking at the Churches my ancestors attended & in some cases it can help pinpoint a burial place ie if it was a Churchyard as oppossed to a Cemetery.
