Post by Maud Jarvis » Mon May 30, 2005 10:43 am

AIM Address
BBC Code

Thanks

Hi Maud

No question is too silly for us!! 8) I can give you a general idea but if you really want to learn in depth about any of these areas I suggest you try a google search (or ask your nearest teenager....they live and breathe this stuff 8) !)

ICQ - refers to an online chat system. One that allows users to post "Instant Messages" amongst a whole host of other features.

AIM - is the same idea as ICQ although personally I have never tried ICQ but do use AIM. This service is provided through AOL.

BBC - Is an abbreviation for Bulletin Board Code and includes such neato things you can insert into your script such as Bold or Italics or Underline or Large Fonts or even colours.

Hope this helps
Jean

PS obviously I need some further training in the Large Fonts and Colour dept as my own failed to appear in the above message :( :!:

:)

Thanks Jean, for your reply
Ah well, now I know, won`t really bother really with them, I have hardly enough time to cope with the ordinary stuff, without trying to find time to "chat" etc

You said your attempt to use BBc dd not work out, but you have used
Bold etc, or did you use a different method for that?
When I`m using the word processor I can use shortcuts for bold & italics etc
I press Ctrl then letter B for bold or trl letter i for italics, but cannot use in on here, Idon`t know why! if I try, a little box comes up saying Organize favourites, and shows a list of folders, so have not a clue what to do with that!!
So apart from using on word processor, don`t really bother with it
anyway, perhaps will experiment just to see what transpires if I use BBC
I am so nosey, like to know what does what, but a bit scared of doing something wrong and sending everything haywire (I have done that, and then sit and yell HELP for my son to rescue me
anyway, will give it a try
Thanks for help

Hi again Maud

To insert codes into the message body look above your typing box when you are in "Post a reply". Notice there are buttons for B, i, u, Quote, Code, List, List=, Img, URL. If you type the B for example and then type what you want in bold it comes out that way...type B again to end the bold portion. BOLD

Another attempt by moi with colour

YES :!: :!: She can be taught!!!!

Don't worry about breaking anything around here....that's why we have Mesklin aboot
