Does anybody here use SKYPE?

Post by rye470 » Sat Jun 30, 2007 3:59 am

Does anyone here use Skype :?: ?.

It's the phone service you can download, and connect with anyone in the world who has the service. And the best bit of all is that it's FREE. :D

A couple of months ago, my sister in law told us about this service that she had just downloaded to her computer. My nephew had just moved to Newcastle University and she could keep in touch with him, but more important to her, was he could contact her at no cost (being a student).

It is fantastic and I wouldn't be without it now. We can speak to her in Scotland, Kenny in Newcastle, and Shona in Oz, ALL AT THE SAME TIME. FOR FREE. And everyone, at each location, can hear what is being said because it comes through your computer speakers.

And it's even better if you have a web cam.................... you can see them too.

Last weekend, my sister in law , brought my mother in law down for the weekend. She had pre-arranged this with us but didn't tell Rita (my MiL). Rita's face, when she realised that she could speak to and see her grandchildren at the same time was priceless.

So, for all of you who have family spread out all over the world, try it. IT'S GREAT.

I'll make it easier than that  ....just type in skype (dot) com and then click on the download button top of the home page. You have to select a user name and password and some other stuff but if you can Instant Message then you can handle Skype. The cool part is that you're speaking in real time....gives the little finnies a break from all that typing

Best wishes
Jean

Hi ladies,

You have got to try it. It's brilliant.

You can hear their voices properly. AND IT'S FREE.

If you have relatives spread over the country, please try a webcam. My MiL's face was priceless.

Hi,
We have skype and have had it for ages. My daughter is living in Japan, my niece is in LA and my brother is in the UK and I am in Australia and it is so easy to keep in touch. You can see when someone is on-line and at their computer and you can either speak or type notes to each other.
Cheers Fiona

Hi Rye,

I have a webcam, only I'm afraid to plug it in. My face is priceless alright, that is people pay any price not to have to look at it.

Marilyn,

Behave yourself. If my webcam is anything to go by, everyone is a bit 'grainy' anyway. But it's still great.

Hi Fionaz,

Isn't it just great being able to hear their voices properly. You can tell a lot about what your 'not being told'.
