Hi Janice,I have RM and thought that, that enabled me to download and read Gedom (?) files from IGI, but its noo wurkin'
I’m not quite sure what you mean. If you’re talking about a GEDCOM you’ve saved on your computer, you need to import it by doing the following:
From the main menu:
Click on File, click on Import (RM Import window will open with all your saved GEDCOM files)
Click on the Gedcom you want to import (windows will open asking you if you want to import to existing file or create a new database, etc., choose what you want to do then click on “Begin Import”
If on the other hand you’re talking about updating RM from records on IGI and for instance, want to find a marriage record for someone already in your database, do the following:
In RM, highlight the person you want the marriage info for then click the “Search IGI” button. When you find the marriage you want, click “Update”; the box will open with the info…click the “Move to RM” button and the info automatically appears in RM. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to add the children unless you have at least the name of the child already in your database.
I don’t know if this has been any help but there are probably others on TS who can explain it better…I never use the software to its capacity.
Regards,
Anne H

Thanks Anne - I'm a bit "challenged" in the technical sense, but what you've explained sounds good - I'll try it out
