Help. please for Irish sources

Post by Mo-anne » Fri Nov 23, 2007 9:17 am

Hi ! I have a birth certificate from SP for Mary Keelty which gives the names of her parents as John and Jane Keelty(nee Colquhoun) with their marrriage given as 1894 oct 20th in Broughshane(I think), Antrim.

This is my first venture into Irish records : can anyone advise me as to where I can go next and what info I can access from Irish records.

I'm also interested to find out about earlier records as every generation someone from my Scottish line married an Irish person so I have lots of lines going back to Ireland.

Many thanks

Mo-anne

Hi Mo Anne,

You will find many Irish sites listed at http://talkingscot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10339

I've had pretty good luck using www.ancestryireland and www.emeraldancestors for my ancestors from Northern Ireland.

Good luck.

Ina

Thanks for these - and thanks for the link to the TS list of Irish sites: I'd tried numerous times to access it from the "sticky" reference at the start of the Irish forum in vain. - No doubt you'll find me posting again on this forum in the coming months.

I know I'm boring and repetitive - but I really do want to say yet again how fantastic it is as a novice being able to draw on the vast experience of so many helpful and knowledgeable people.

A great big thank you to all involved with TS

Regards Mo-anne

Hi Mo-anne,

The link in that post at the top of the Irish forum was updated yesterday after it was pointed out that it was not working. The list of Irish links was re-written recently, but the link was still pointing to the [deleted] old list (oops).

All the best,

Andrew
