Kelley/Kelly Burns Byrnes families- Ireland to Scotland ....

Post by frances » Thu Apr 27, 2006 7:33 am

My great Great Grandfather William Kelley was born in Ireland C1831 his father also William and his mother unknown. He married Sarah Burns/Byrnes born (Ireland) C1841 in Coatbridge Scotland in 1858. Sarah's parents were Patrick & Ann.

All of their children were born in the Lanarkshire area of Scotland.

I cannot get any further back with my research as I do not know which part of Ireland William or Sarah came from. :?

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated :)

Kind Regards

Frances

Hi Frances
You have probably followed them through on the census - I take it there were no clues as to where in they were born in Ireland to be found there?

Any chance they might have applied for poor relief whilst in Lanarkshire?

Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Lesley,

Thanks for the reply. Nothing on any of the documents I have found so far to indicate which part of Ireland they came from.

I know that Sarah died in the poor house in Airdrie. Do you know of any web sites that I can check to see if they received poor relief.

Thanks again for your help.

Kind Regards

Frances :)

Personally, no... not for Lanarkshire, thats not really my side of the country. I'm sure there will be someone else around who can maybe give you some pointers.

Is ths it?
