Hi there Jean
Have you had any luck with this search?
If their son John was born in 1850, and he was their youngest, they could have married up to around 20 years prior to 1850. If John was their oldest child, they could have married around 1849. Have you searched for their death records? I believe that all catholic records are held locally, so you might try to contact the local church.
Here's a few helpful web sites - you might find some general information there to point you in the right direction.

Re McCann in Ireland
Hi Jean and Liz,
The IGI has this LDS submission, so seems someone else has an interest.
But they don't appear to know too much; or info was withheld?
--
John McShane - Birth: 1824 , , Ireland
Mrs Mary A McShane - Birth: 1834 , , Ireland
Marriage: About 1853 , , Ireland
--
I know next to nothing of Irish records.
That's why i've circled Sat 10th March on the calendar, and written "Glasgow Uni, 9am"

You are most definitely not too late!
I will post a new note over the weekend with the details of the day. I will ask everyone to email me to confirm that they are attending - the limit is 80 (fire regulations) so we can't go over that
It looks like we will need to make a small charge of £5 to cover the hire of the room - but I'll put more details in an announcement here over the weekend. Anything we take in over the cost of room hire will be given over to TS to help with site running costs. I hope that no-one will have any problems about that ...
There is no charge being made by any of the presenters or facilitator, and if we're really in luck we might have a special guest presenter!!
I hope you can come along.

Re: Re McCann in Ireland
Hi Jean,
Trust you are now much better.
Alas, that's all it said for John McSHANE & Mary Ann McCANN; you can see the submission at -
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/ ... _form=true
Alas, no more details.
Presuming you don't know if John & Mary Ann did come over to Scotland?
Maybe it was only son John alone?
I can't find him with any certainty in the 1871 census.
On John's 1872 MC it says father John was deceased, but not mother Mary Ann McCann.
On his 1895 DC it again says his father is John, but mother is now Ellen m/s unknown.
The informant being son John.
So the DC only makes things worst - another name in the frame.
And no guarantee that either are right.
-
I'd hoped the Charles McSHANE 30, born Ireland who was in Bothwell 1881 would be a brother, but seems not.
He was married to a Mary Croley / Creilly in 1875 at Maghera, Co. Derry,
and his parents, according to his DC, were Patrick McShane & Ann McGuigan.
So that line of thought came to an end.
Looks like your brickwall might take some time if it is to be demolished.
Sorry - Jack
