Irish town .....

Post by suzyblu » Wed Feb 07, 2007 8:07 am

Hi

I have just found a marriage of my ancestors in Ireland but all I have is:

Thomas Robertson and Ann Montgomery - 10.09.1853 in Ireland but no town named.

Where do I start with this one?

Thanks
Susan

Hi Susan,

Did you get that information from one of their children's birth certificates? I note from the IGI they had more than one child (assuming that's the 10 born Dundee way) so, do all the certificates give the same date? Sometimes if you get more than one certificate you'll find more information documented such as a Parish, you may also find the dates change a bit.

I've checked the IGI and didn't find anything, however, on http://www.ancestryireland.com you can do a search on individuals. I did a brief one and noticed that a Thomas Robertson got married in Antrim in 1852. I then did a search for Ann Montgomery, there is also an 1852 Antrim marriage. It doesn't let you check to see if they married each other, you have to pay £6 and can look at 4 records. I'd go for the Ann Montgomery search as that threw back 6 to check up on.

Sorry if I'm way off the mark!

Good luck
Donna

Sorry to have to disappoint you but I just checked those names on Emerald Ancestors for you and they both married different people in the 1852 marriages. Thomas married a Jane Patterson & Anne an Andrew Creighton. Can't find a record where they married each other for north of the border.
