Hello
I was wondering if anyone could help. I am trying to find any information on a Henrietta Shaw. She was born in scotland 1903 and I know she lived in Ireland in 1956 as I have a letter sent from her to her brother (my ggrandfather) sent from Kingsmoss Belfast. I have no record of her marriage in scotland at all. The letter has no surname on there but is signed Etta and Bob. There is a possibility that her husbands name was Smiley, that is only through family talk. Any information would be good as she is the only one of that generation I am really stuck on. I have nothing apart from that letter and her birth to go on.
Thanks
Julie

Hi Juliemay:
Welcome to TalkingScot!
Have you tried searching on ScotlandsPeople for her marriage? There are 3 Henrietta Shaw marriages 1920-31, so you might be able to pick her out by the location and the name of the husband.
There is 1 marriage for Robert Smiley 1920-31, but it does not connect with Henrietta Shaw. Could she have been married twice and Bob was the second husband? Could she have married in Ireland?
Someone else will be along to add their thoughts in answer to your questions.
All the best
Frances

Hi
Thanks for the replys, in answer to one question, I have not come across a sister Bridgett, but as Henrietta was born in 1903, I cannot access anymore records beyond that on Scotlands people. Also I know her mother went to Canada around 1906 and stayed there. As far as I know the children stayed in Scotland as I have quite a bit of info aon her brothers and sisters in Scotland.
As to the marriages on Scotlands People I never thought it might be worth a try viewing them as she could have married twice. Although they are not in the area she was brought up in, as there is only 3 it might be worth the risk.
Anymore info on her in Ireland would be of help, also I am just going on family heresay as to her marrying a Smiley. We all know that it could be wrong, so she could of married someone else in Ireland.
Thanks
Julie
