Placename? .....

Post by JustJean » Wed Mar 21, 2007 5:10 pm

Hi folks

Would appreciate some input on this one. Am trying to determine just where in Ireland this family came from. I've boxed off a section from the immigration record large enough to include more handwriting but the specific entry is the last one in the column.....somewhere in Kil????, Kings County. I know the mum's name is Mrs. M. Scully and also it says grandmother underneath....just tell me the placename...and is it a townland or a PLU or a Parish or :? ???

Thanks muchly!!!

I read it as "Kilcormac", see http://www.kilcormac.com/

King's County, aka Co. Offallt, - see http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/irl/OFF/

Hi David

Ummm....well...you made that look easy!! ......now if I could just pester a wee bit further as to just what the word before Kilcormac might be...the one that looks like it starts with a "B" or a "3"......or isn't that relevant ?????

Best wishes
Jean

Starts with a "B" and could be B[a/o]rtlaroc, but since Kilcormac is a townland, anything before that in the address must be an individual house or farm.
