BOYLE, Jessica Edwina died Dublin 1985 .....

Post by q98 » Mon Apr 23, 2007 10:39 am

My Aunt Jessie (McCREADIE) BOYLE died in Dublin on 24 February 1985 of breast cancer, I believe. At the time of her death, she and husband James resided at 74 St Assam's Road West, Raheny, Dublin 5.

I would like to know if her own maiden name (not McCREADIE at birth and cannot locate any adoption) and date of birth would have been recorded on her Death Certificate? I believe she was born circa 1928.

Kind regards and thanks.

Hi Jim,

Gosh you're asking a tough question and I'm not sure about the answer, but have you checked out any of these links for a possible clue?

Many thanks Marilyn
Will check out that link soonest. As a boy, I well remember my Aunt Jessie; a wonderful, warm, humourous lady without a bad bone in her body. She taught me to ride a bike; a great big black ladies bike. I recall a certain part of my anatomy almost touching the sprocket and chain!

Hi Jim,

Memories that's the meaning of our lives here on earth. Make sure you record them for your future family history. Now tell me, what is "a great big black ladies bike"? I can well imagine it, by your description, but I'm trying to keep your question at the top of the pile..... :wink:

LOVL - I almost choked when I re-read my post! Of course, the phrase should have read ".. a ladies great big black bike."

Thanks again.

Hi Jim
The info given here suggests that her maiden name may not be inlcuded.
http://www.ireland.com/ancestor/browse/ ... /death.htm
  • Deaths
    The information they were required to supply was:
    the date and place of death;
    the name and surname of the deceased;
    the sex of the deceased;
    the condition of the deceased as to marriage;
    the age of the deceased at last birthday;
    the rank, profession or occupation of the deceased;
    the certified cause of death, and the duration of the final illness;
see also http://genealogy.about.com/library/vita ... .htm#Death
date and place of death, name of deceased, sex, age (sometimes approximate), occupation, cause of death, informant of death (not necessarily a relative), date of registration and Registrar's name. Even today, Irish death records do not include a maiden name for married women or date of birth for the deceased.
Best wishes
Lesley
