Martin family from Ireland to Scotland .....

I'm hopelessly stumped, can anyone please help me?

MARY MARTIN born abt 1836 somewhere in Ireland..daughter of DAVID MARTIN B abt 1811 Ireland? & Ann Spratt / Sprott, B abt 1816 Ireland.

I've found the family in the 1851 + 1861 Census in Glasgow., and Ann is still alive in 1891 census

Mary Martin married : 1st Samuel Loag/Logue , then Hugh Barclay Caw.
She died 1898, January Thirteenth
11h 30m A.M.
Royal Infirmary
Glasgow

usual Residence
Colston -Bishopbriggs Sex: F Age: 54 years [age doesn't match census records ]

But no matter what I try I just can't find any birth record for Mary or a marriage record for her parents.

Any suggestions please?

Hi Brenda,

Have you seen her mother's death certificate? There is one there that looks very likely to be her. Annie Martin (m.s. Sprott) died aged 88 in 1905 in Dennistoun, Glasgow. You should find her parents' names there too, and her husband's name to (hopefully) help confirm this is the right one.

Sadly I had my handbag stolen over the weekend, so until I can get a new credit card issued I''ll have to wait to purchase some more credits on SP.

Couldn't find anything I'm afraid. See my other post on Helen.

I will look again as there are so many name permutations for them that I'm sure I haven't covered them all.

I've been reading through your original post and as far as I'm aware you will not find the birth of Mary Martin nor her parents marriage online as they took place in Ireland.

I'm sure the reason neither you nor anyone else can find Mary's birth or her parents' marriage is that these both occurred in Ireland, as Annette suggested. But recall that we did find David's death record and I assume by now you have Ann's-- so you are doing pretty well! Certainly nothing to despair about
