Hi Carol,

Pretty sure I've found Garnet (born 1892) and family in 1900 at Michigan transcribed as Gislin!!!! :D

They match with the Goslins at Colchester in 1911.

This means Garnet was only 15 when she married George and not 17 as stated!

Regards,
Annette

Hi Annette,

The earliest marriage that I've found so far was again in Michigan and was for a 12 year old girl. A note in the register said she had her parents permission!

I'll have a look around for more Gislins! There was a lot of moving back and forth between Canada and Michigan because of the jobs available in Michigan. My father's sister married a Canadian and her husband's sister married another Canadian over here. There were two other Canadian families on our street when I was a child. All of my mother's relatives who came over from Finland entered the country from Canada. There used to be a train running under the river from Windsor to Detroit so you could take a ship to Montreal and get on a train and end up in Michigan with out any problem. Of course there were bridges too--in three different locations.

Carol :D
