Hi Pinkshoes

No shoe shopping today?
The street name is written vertically up the left side of the census form, and the house number is the number on the leftmost column.
The manifest form is indeed a treasure trove of info. He was first in the US in 1921, and Agnes first "marriage" was in 1920... Well, she wouldn't be the first one to tell a story to the census taker (one of my great grandmothers had a different birth year in every census and her marital status was all over the map... especially in retrospect when one knows the "facts"!)
Cheers,
Sarah

Duh! Could it be any bigger

Thanks Sarah. (No shoes today, but as I'm in town tomorrow for haircut, who knows

)
I'm interested in this friend McPhail in New York (think I said Detroit earlier, but meant NY) - I can't make out the first initial but the second one is def. A, which made me suspect Agnes. Maybe a red herring.
Also John's last permanent residence as at the Manifest was Chicago. Wonder if he left any clues there?
Best wishes
