Sask vital records

Post by annie1 » Tue Mar 22, 2011 1:57 pm

Hi,

I have been looking at the website for Saskcatchewan vital records and you can search for deaths and births but not marriage, does anyone know when they will be online? It must have been a year ago that I tried, and it said the same then.

Thanks Ann

Hello Ann,

Could it be Saskatchewan?

Is this the index announcement you’re talking about? I can’t even get onto the search page to see what’s there. Do you have a better link? http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cansk ... n/bmd.html

Here’s the 2005 announcement about Births. Deaths and Marriages were supposed to appear in 2006. Marriages will only appear in the index if they occurred over 75 years ago. http://www.gov.sk.ca/news?newsId=ac834a ... 8a9b36eda0

All the best,
Alan

Hi Alan,

Yes it is Sascatchewan, I googled Sask Vital Records, and I got that second link that you sent, this is where I searched for the births and deaths www.isc.ca/VitalStatistics/Genealogy/vsgs_srch.aspx
I cant seem to find out much more about the marriage records that were supposed to be available, I tried a link someone sent me a few years ago but that did not work, and now I know for sure the marriage that I am looking for was 90 years ago, I thought I'd find it easily, maybe its just not been completed yet.

Thanks
Ann

Hi Annie:

Looking at this site, it seems they may have changed their mind about making the marriages available online in favour of making it a pay for service option.
http://www.isc.ca/VitalStats/Marriages/ ... fault.aspx

Perhaps you might find something on either of the following pages
http://www.saskarchives.com/web/about-faq.shtmlhttp://www.saskarchives.com/web/service ... amily.html

Finally, maybe someone from the SGS may be of help

Hi Frances,

Thank you for these links, oh well that seems to clear up why I cant do a search, I'll hang on and they might put them online eventually.
I recently found out Google News Archives have The Leader Post, which is a Saskatchewan paper, going back to 1930, maybe even earlier, I've not looked, so I will slowly trawl through them and see if I can find anything.
Thanks for your help

Ann
