Emigration to Quebec 1907 Query .....

Post by elmca » Sun Nov 27, 2005 1:53 pm

Hi, can anyone tell me which route would be taken from Scotland to Quebec in 1907?? Would the ship sail to the states first or.....?? How do I find out where the family were first registered?? Lots of questions I know but I really do not know where to start. I found the family on IGI - a marriage in Montreal and the birth of their first child but other than that i have no more details. Thanks!

Hello,

Can't help with the emigration route etc but there is a Quebec site which I have found very useful:
http://simmons.b2b2c.ca/
You might find something there about other births.

A quick look at the Ellis Island site http://www.ellisisland.org/ and the Castle Gardens site at http://www.castlegarden.org/ might be of assistance, even if just to eliminate the possibilities.

Primary sources of entry in Quebec would have been Quebec (City) and Montreal and this would have allowed for rail access to major points in Quebec and Ontario, then across the country (after mid 1800s). Nova Scotia and New Brunswick were common points of entry, but migration to other parts of Canada was not as likely to be the goal of those sailing to those areas.

You may have some success at either/both of these sites.
