Ramaccini on New York passenger lists .....

Post by Thrall » Wed Jan 11, 2006 1:20 am

Hi all well subscribing diggers, could anyone find details of Ramaccini name on New York passenger lists. Not strictly Scottish but I am doing a little searching for a Scot whose Ramaccini family disappears from London after 1891 census. Not a very frequent name, so would be grateful of details if anyone has access. Rumours of American connection, but otherwise must assume departure for Italy or wherever.

With thanks,

Thrall

Hi Nancy, and thank you very much for that. Doesn´t look like my lot but you never know.

Most grateful, and best wishes.

Good hunting,

Hello,
I didn't find them in the passenger lists, but did find Annetta Ramacini & Hector Ramacini (only 1 c) in the 1901 census of Hampstead parish, London county. (Ten years after your last sighting in the 1891 census.)
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Gina

Hi Gina, thank you. I had this thought (from you?) and tried myself the other spelling a couple of hours before you posted, so now I have the mother and son in London in 1901 but no more movements (deaths or marriages) on FreeBMD after that. I expect we´ll just have to wait another five years until the next census comes online to see what happens to them; this is the right family.
I found them first 1881 but then Annetta says she is a widow. Her (former) husband however marries again three years later in 1884, but dies after four years, two months after his new wife. He was a "Professor of Singing" for many years, but died in a lunatic asylum as "Singer of Workhouse Grays Inn Road", which really has the mind boggling.

The ages are totally astray, perhaps not unexpectedly.

Funnily enough ???, my friend who is his gr.x2 grand daughter is also a musician.

Thank you again,

And one thinks sometimes one´s own family is "different",

Good hunting,

Thank you for that, David; I´m sure I (and others) will sleep much better with that in mind - assuming we can get away from the ´puter.
