Scots in South America

Post by MurielM » Sat Jun 09, 2007 8:08 am

I would appreciate help in finding information on Scots who went to work in South America in the 1870s. My great great grandfather was an engine driver in Peru, but the only information I have is a death notice in a Fife newspaper.

The Brits in South America database, which has links to other valuable resources, may be a good starting point for you:

and the links from the other web resources page on the Scots in Argentina webpages

Hi Muriel
...and a warm welcome to Talking Scot :D
Those both look like interesting links to follow up.

Did your great great grandfather die in Peru or did he come back to Scotland later in his life?

Best wishes
Lesley
