FAO Marilyn and Christine

Enjoyed reading your account of the meeting having followed the planning, your amusing thoughts and general anticipation. Glad to hear it was fun despite the hiccups.
Noticed you had links with Johnstone. The Scran site has eleven pages of images, mostly of industrial buildings but there are other scenes and maps. Your relatives may have had connections with one or more of the local industries. Just thought I'd mention this site again in case you did not know of it.

Hi Mairi

Greetings from Rhode Island, USA.

Happy to read that you enjoyed our little journey to New York. We spent a wonderful day together, with or without the bumps. :D And I would not trade the memory for anything. Well maybe a winning million dollar lottery ticket.

Thanks for the website, I'll be sure to check it out as soon as I sign off tonight. Christine was born in Linwood, so she may have a jump start on the history of the area? Its my belief, without any documented proof to date, that my gg gf Matthew Morning worked for the Finlayson Bousfield & Co. mill in Johnstone and may have taken advantage of some sort of a incentive to move to Grafton, Massachusetts in 1883.

J.R. Lesson was a selling agent for the Finlayson Bousfield & Company and they were located in Boston, Massachusetts located only 20 miles or so from Grafton Massachusetts.

Hi Marilyn,

You have to subscribe to Scran (hope you have some spondulics left after NY!) but the range of images and information, I think, is worth it.
Yes there are images of 'your' firm's mills and others associated with them. The images will complement your documents, for example census records.
It is one site I get lost in until the early hours of the morning.

Cheers, Mairi.
