Ye know whit its like if ye get stuck between yon Campbell’s an’ McDonalds.
Ye huv tae be like a wee boay scout.

As for getting’ items confiscated.
My Brither got his old fashioned safety razor wheeched aff him at Glasgow Airport this year.
An’ yet the wummin’ kin walk oanywhere they like, wey the most lethal weapon known tae man.
The stiletto heel.

Here is an interesting wee site oan Highland dress.

Hi Russell and MaryB

Fake Skean dhu's in Florida Mary?
I wonder if they thocht that usyins frae the West Coast o' Scotland were mer dangerous than the locals.
I have two freens in Vero Beach, who have signposts in ther' gerdins, that state "We don't dial 911" , along with a drawing of a smoking pistol.
Mind you, their faimilies came frae "The Port" in the mid nineteenth century.
Enough said :D

And Russell, are we talkin' aboot the peaceful borderers here?
As in " A Douglas A Douglas" et al.

The offence is carrying an offensive weapon without just cause or reasonable excuse. I was at a ceilidh not long ago and at least one young man had a Skean Dhu. Pack it in hold baggage and wear it proudly!!

One day when I'm really stressed I'll tell you my tale about getting my luggage searched at JFK.

Hi AnneM,
....snipped....
One day when I'm really stressed I'll tell you my tale about getting my luggage searched at JFK

After six months flying back and forward between Amsterdam and Bristol, almost on a fortnightly weekend return basis, I got mine done on the last trip home

Why did they pick on me when I'd always sailed through before and even got friendly nods of recognition from the staff? Because there was a guy just a bit behind me they'd had their eye on for a while that they didn't want to spook and, because we had always got on so well before, they reckoned I'd take it in my stride 8)

All's well - passed OK, but he didn't
