Hi Cathie,
If you go to this page, and scroll down a wee bit you'll find instructions on getting to The Mitchell.

There is also the new entrance on Granville St.,
but safer crossing at the lights and go up North St. to the main entrance.

The Firstgroup link at the bottom has a very good map - click on the blue box which says;

"Click here to view a pdf of
the Greater Glasgow mapmate
"

There is the large map on Page 1, and a more detailed City map on Page 2.
You can zoom in.

Hope to bump into you...well not literally!

I will be staying in Kilbirnie and I think the train station is called Glengarnock.

Be aware that Glengarnock Station (which is the correct station) is a couple of miles from the centre of Kilbirnie.

Hi Janice
I got your PM okay and I hope we can work something out.

Jack
Thanks for the link, I knew there was something like it on the board but as I said, my brain is overheated or something. I've copied out the directions now and I hope I do see you there!

David
My cousins live in Kilbirnie and they have volunteered to drive me to the train station anytime I want to go, so there will be no stopping me now!!!

Regards and thanks to everyone

Buses to The Mitchell

Post by Jack » Mon May 07, 2007 11:46 pm

Hi Cathie,
Tom's suggestion of buses 16, 18, 44, or 57 from Hope St. would be better for you.
Getting off at the Kings Theatre is a wee bit nearer to The Mitchell than St. Vincent St.
I'm just so used to getting the 9 or 62 from the other direction to the library....
Cheers - Jack :D

Thanks Jack and Tom
I've got it all written down now and I should be just fine, if worse comes to worse I will just stand in the Central Station with a big sign
" Help, Talking Scot member can't find her way out of the station, never mind her ancestors!"
Regards
Cathie :D
