Dalmuir

Hi
I feel s sad to read about the wful changes that have happened in Dalmuir, I was born and grew up there.I first went to Dalmuir Primar school, that was bombed during the blitz.
Later when I passed the qualifying exam, I went to Clydebank High school (Miller St &also facing onto Kilbowie Rd) then later we were shifted to a newly built school, was that Janetta st, my brain cells are a bit faded now, so I`m not quite sure, I left soon after then anyway, when I was 16, I was supposed to stay to take my "Highers" when 18, but I got fed up as most of my pals had already left when 14 yr old, and I wanted to start work like them and get pocket money!

However, many moons have passed now since I last saw Dalmuir, I think I last visited there about 1970, and saw many changes already then.
I doubt if I would recognise anything now , perhaps its just as well I cannot return there now and see so many changes, at least nothing has changed in my memories! so I can still visualise it as I knew it when growing up.

I now live in what was a small village when my husband and son and I came to live here when we left London, that was in the early 1980s, but the changes even here have transformed the place out of recognition!

where there was once a quarry, is now the Lakeside shopping centre, and also a massive housing estate, our local hospital has also gone the same way, knocked down and houses now in its place, there is now talking about where a new hospital could be built! it is badly needed, but the land has gone now.

The orgiginal village people must be devastated to see what has happend to this area, as are the people of Dalmuir & Clydebank, but then this is what is called progressand we are powerless to prevent it I`m afraid.
Seeking any descendents from Ezekiel McCulloch, Port Glasgow, also Neil Barr (Greenock)

There's an online petition going on about this church, the addy is in this weeks Clydebank Post (pg 5).

Is it OK for me to post up the addy using "at" instead of @ just so those interested can add their names?

I can't see any problem with that.
