Sheila,

I order from amazon.uk all the time. I find that they have many books that the amazon.com don't have.

Hi Ina

I see that you live in California. Did you order and receive the book, The Scottish Family Tree Detective?

The only person who received it in North America, that I know about is Sarah, and she ordered it when she was in Europe. I don't know if anyone in Australia received it either. I am wondering what the problem is. :?

Regards

Sheila

I think that there may have been a reprint of the book. I ordered mine from the local bookshop in February/March.The bookseller's information was that the book would be available mid March. It finally arrived mid-April.

Best wishes

Hi Sheila,

I ordered mine in December and received it late January. I've always been satisfied with the service from amazon.uk

Just recently I ordered a book for a friend who lives in Edinburgh, it was delivered to her the day after I ordered it. I'd say that is great service.

Hi Ina & Catriona

I wish that I had thought to order the book from Amazon.Uk earlier. I didn't know that there was any difference between Amazon.com and Amazon.uk. If I don't receive the book by June, I will cancel my order with Amazon.com and order it from Amazon.uk.

Lately it seems that I have been spending time waiting for things to come in the mail. I have been waiting for nearly two months for some info from Canada, re my mother's immigration to Canada from Scotland, and now I am waiting for Certs to come from LDS. I don't really have a problem with the LDS as it has only been one week since I faxed them my requests. I guess that I am just becoming impatient. :)

Regards

Myth has it that my book made a brief appearance on my doorstep today but has found alternative accomodation. Sometime between my wife going out at 9:00 and returning at 9:15 the mysterious entity sometimes referred to as a postman, who some eye witnesses have caught a glimpse of only for the apparition to vanish before them, dropped a "Sorry you were out" card through the door. That in itself was news to me considering I was waiting for him arriving. Methinks that once again he could not be bothered carrying a parcel and so now I have to wait for redelivery on Wednesday.

Sounds like you have the same "silent" door bell as I have :!:

No local delivery centre pickup possibility?

Yes but the 'local' delivery point is about 5 miles away and it won't be available till tomorrow. From experience they occassionally have a quick look in the depot and say they can't find it. I'll just wait till Wednesday now. The redelivery guys are always on the ball.

Rab

Waiting patiently and twindling thumbs. :)

Ahhh thats him. I had a delivery the other week for a laptop hard drive, never heard the buzzer and when I went out I found the "You Were Out" Card. I called to get them to redeliver and again I got a second card but as I came back up to my flat and looked out the window the delivery van was still there. So I ran down and waited for him to come out of the building he was in. His excuse was that there was no flat number on it or phone number. When i got upstairs and looked at it, it clearly had my mobile number on it as well as which flat it was. It was a box in a plasticy envelope. Seems he couldnt be bothered to unfold the plasticy envelope to look at the details.

I dont know if it is the same over there as here.

We dont get even wee parcels delivered to the door!!!
They leave a card saying you were not at home
You would think if they arent delivering wee parcels by the postie they would at least change their card to reflect this
At least over here you can go the the local post office (agency) and get your parcel that afternoon. Oh the wait when my BVRI CD's came
