Hello Mary .. it's a sad reflection of the times that people had to rely on others to help pay for a simple medicine that could cure you.

You were indeed a very lucky baby .. thank gawd you're here to tell us your story :)

Aberdeen housing 1850-1930 2?'s

Post by speleobat2 » Tue Aug 07, 2007 1:21 pm

Good morning everybody!

I can't imagine raising 13 children under any circumstances!!!

Tracey: I have 2 batches of Clerihews living at 51 Summer St.--Alexander's in the 1850's and George's from 1878 to the mid 1880's. Haven't been able to link them though I think they are related. George was my great grandfather and my grandfather was born at this address. Wish we could search the records by street address. I'd love to know who lived at #51 in between these two families.

Wendy: This website is wonderful, but has anyone introduced you to Scotlands People? Go up to the top of the forum page and click on the blue button just under the bar. Have your credit card handy. It's pay per view except for wills and it's addictive!!!

Have to get out the vacumn cleaner early today. Temp's headed for 100 degrees and the dew point is in the 70's. Even with AC it's brutal out there.

Carol
Looking for: Clerihew, Longmuir/Longmore, Chalmers, Milne, Barclay in Newhills,
Munro, Cadenhead, Raitt, Ririe/Reary

It might seem that way but when you consider that ordering a certificate, rather than having the luxury of being able to view and download it on SP, would cost £10.

Wendy,

It does add up, but when I think about all those hours trying to find records, plus the cost of plane tickets and hotel rooms etc., it seems cheap. Plus, my sister is paying for half of this search!

If you have time and don't mind, go to your profile and add a header with the names of some of ancestors you're searching for. I'm curious and you will get more help that way. At least I have.

Suppose when you put it like that Mary .. i shouldn't grumble :D
I didnt know the cost of these certificates, and as you say you can see them in an instant without waiting .. btw what does SP mean .. my head isnt in gear today

Carol, I will do the header, i promise :D Everyone on here is so helpful to eachother considering doing your own tree takes alot of work & patience.
Think i'm gonna enjoy it here :D

To agree with that would mean having to admit that we were all "nightmares" at the beginning.

Not at all  We all have to start somewhere and, without the incredible help available on here, I'd still not have got back beyond my Great Grand yins
