Hi Anne

I am glad that you got it for the right price.

I wonder what WalMart is doing, having two different prices.

I guess that alls well that ends well, though I suppose that we had better wait till we receive our books, before thinking that. :D

Regards

Sheila

Hi Shiela,

It's a mystery to me. I think I might contact Walmart and ask why the difference in prices. I wonder if it has anything to do with our different locations and from where we access their website (California vs Florida prices), although, I always thought WalMart stores would basically have the same, or at least, similar prices no matter where the location.

Important thing is that I finally found it at the right price :D

Regards,
Anne H

I don't think the price difference is to do with your locations. I think the higher priced one is the hard-cover edition and the lower priced one is the paperback edition. This can be seen on www.amazon.co.uk if you do a search for Rosemary Bigwood.

I went to a couple of Edinburgh city centre bookshops today.

Blackwells (formerly James Thin) in South Bridge said they had not had it in yet, and the publication date was at the end of March. I told them that Waterstones had already been selling it, and that the publication date was 31st December 2006. His computer couldn't tell him any more.

Next to Waterstones, Princes Street (just round the corner from New Register House). I knew beforehand that it had been on sale in another of their branches. I looked and could not see it. I asked and they consulted the computer. First of all I was told that it was only published on 31st December and that they had not had it in yet. I told him that it had been bought in their other Princes Street branch a week earlier (a few days before the official release date) and he looked puzzled. His colleague tapped at the keyboard again and found that they too had it on sale a few days before the publishing date, but had sold out of their small allocation. It is on order and is expected in again, soon. He checked the computer again and could see no stock of the book available in any of their other shops.

Both were pleased that I had taken a note of the ISBN book number (even if that was from Amazon). This made their computer searches easy for them.

All the best,

Ahh...that's it Andrew...I just went to check and sure enough it was the hardback vs paperback! You probably saved me from writing a cheeky letter to WalMart. What a difference in the price though. Funny thing when I checked this time, the expected delivery date now says 1/28/07 for the paperback and when I ordered it last night, it definitely had a delivery date of 3/30/07...maybe they ran out, then got another order of books in. Anyway, I'm just happy I'm finally getting my book at some point or other.

Hi Anne & Andrew

Hard cover books are always more expensive than paperbacks, but this is a ridiculous difference. I wonder what the hard cover book has that the paper back one doesn't.

Has anyone seen both books?

Hi Sheila
Yes, I was amazed when I looked on Amazon at the enormous price of the hardback - £45!! Usually if a paperback was around £10, you'd expect the hardback to be around £17-£18... very odd

Best wishes
Lesley

:) I've just ordered my copy from The Book Depository via Amazon. It says it's in stock and will be dispatched 12/01/2007. Cost (including p & p) £10.01.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

For folk in and around Edinburgh.

The bigger of two branches of 'The Major Bookseller' outlets on Princes St has at least 10 copies in the Scottish Section.

Had a quick squint in a coffee shop, it looks £9.99 well spent.
I'd like to be apathetic but I really can't be bothered.

Looking for blacksheep & not finding any with
Groats & Stevensons in Orkney, Hood's in Dundee/Angus, Mclaren's in Clackmannan and Jolly's in Kincardineshire. There may be more!

Message from amazon today to say that my order has been dispatched.
Not as long as I thought.

P.s
I am watching Andy Murray play Andy Roddick at Kooyong just now.
The winner will play Roger Federer tomorrow, good excuse to stay inside and clear up some Genealogy paper work that needs to be chucked.

Hi All

I just got an e-mail from WalMart telling me that the book will not be shipped out in January, but will be delayed till March 25. :?

Oh well, I just hope that I get it someday.
