Waterstones on Sauchiehall St. had 2 books on the shelf yesterday.

WH Smith just along the street didn't have it, and said they'd none in their warehouse at present.

Hi All, obviously the printers have been busy - I received this from Amazon this evening:
"Greetings from Amazon.co.uk,
We thought you would like to know that the following item has been sent.

1 The Scottish Family Tree D... £9.99

Shipped via International Mail (estimated arrival date: 17-January-2007)."

I hope the same speed-up applies to all others who have ordered and been told about 4-6 week delays.

Can´t wait to get in some saltation........

Thrall

With a fiver for postage, and about eight quid for customs and form filling, it´ll be near enough twenty three smackers all told, but well worth it if a certain individual hailing from Montrose is to be believed!...... :D

Hi,

I wrote to Amazon last night and asked why some were receiving their copies sooner than others. Here is part of the reply I got:

Dear Customer

Thank you for writing to Amazon.co.uk regarding your order #****************

Please be assured that we fulfill orders on First Come First Serve basis only. We are sorry to report that there has been an unexpected delay in obtaining "The Scottish Family Tree Detective: Tracing Your Ancestors in Scotland (Family Tree Detective)".

We now expect your order to be delivered by Febuary 09, 2007 - March 1, 2007. On the date of dispatch, we will send you an email confirming the date contents and method of delivery.

To serve you better, we would like to give you a 3 GBP promotional gift certificate, for use towards your next Amazon.co.uk order.

The promotional gift certificate funds have already been added to your Amazon.co.uk account. However, please note that this will not appear in the "View gift certificate balance" section of the "Your Account" link.

When you place a qualifying order you will be able to see that the value of your gift certificate has been deducted from the total cost in the order summary. When you have successfully placed your order, the following message will be displayed: "Thank you--we have received your order".

I buy a lot of books from Amazon, and I thought it was nice to get the three pound gift certificate.......would have liked to get the book sooner, but at least they try to please their customers. I like that!!!

Andrew,

You are fortunate t hat you can pop out and buy the book but the likes of Thrall, Ina and I have to depend on Amazon, and they normally provide a good service.
Ina, I'll try your idea next time they tell me there is a delay on an order and see if I get promotional gift, I usually just accept the delay and assume it is outwith their control.

My book has been dispatched but not received as yet.
