In Scotland, always burra (unless anyone can come up with an exception)
One not to confuse you is one beginning Burgh - Burghead
Burg-head (Burg as in burger, head to rhyme with bread) - or at least that's how I pronounce it - Heather (Angel) should be able to confirm as it is in her locality.

All the best,

Yes I remember Dr McLean (I think). Did he have a daughter with red hair called Alison?

Ah yes! In Fife, we say it as EDIN BRUH.

Margaret

That's the one, and Alison had a wee sister Barbara............

We'll have to start a separate thread about what they did, or rather didn't do, to Ballochmyle House.

Hi David

Or as some would have it

"Aw fur coats and nae drawers!"
And still on a food theme I wonder if the East coasters still buy a 'half loaf' which a West coaster would see as a whole loaf???

This is just in case Jean has to go for the 'messages'

David

It is tragic what was done to Ballochmyle House. Anyone want to try to pronounce that? The penny just dropped about the towels. I got married two years after the mill closed so I never got any tartan towels :(

You're away again
Course Jean will not need to go the messages because if she visits the East Coast she will be expected to "have had her tea"
