Seeking McHancocks?

Well not really, but if there are any McHancock descendants out there, and rumour has it there are one or two, they might be interested to hear that “The Last of the McHancocks” is currently playing on BBC Radio 7 Listen Again at http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7/listenagain/tuesday/

Yes folks, that’s Hancocks Half Hour with a twist of Scotch in which the McHancock tartan is apparently described as “Puce and lemon squares on a background of heliotrope; and very racy it is too”

Hi Alan,

That's quite a description for the McHancock tartan....

I work for a tartan designer and it amazes me how people want their personal tartans described.

Just recently we designed a tartan for someone who wanted the blue shade to be described as the colour of Welsh slate rooftiles after a rainstorm. Why it had to be a Welsh rooftop and not a Scottish rooftop just baffled me.

Hello Ina,

I imagine that wet Welsh roof colour would have been a bit hard to pin down, especially living in California. I hope they provided you with a photograph or at least a wet tile to work from.
