Hi,
I've used the link on this site to try to view the valuation rolls for Glasgow 1913 1914. I can find Ward St. and Black St. where the Mitchell family lived in the 1901 census. They are not on the valuation rolls for those addresses by 1913 / 1914. The next address I have for them is 133 Balnorock Road on two death certificates from the 1940s. It might be a bit of a stretch to imagine that they would have been there in 1913 but I can't find out as 'Balnorock' nor 'Balnarock' doesn't seem to work on the site. Maybe it was called something else then.
Any ideas?
Tish

Hi Tish,
I do know 133 Balornock Rd. was Stobhill Hospital.
The first picture link below gives a reason as to why the address was always used.
My own granny died there in 1949.
If your Mitchell family were eligible to vote in 1901, then Archives at The Mitchell Library may be able to help?

Now there's logic! I should have thought of that. For years I thought my grandparents lived at a certain address because that was the address on her death certificate - and it was a nursing home for TB patients. Thank you so much.

Does it not give their 'usual address' on the death certificates?

More logic - I seem to have lost that microchip! I can only defend myself Annette by saying that I was working off a gedcom file I printed off some time ago - this information I got when I was relatively new to genealogy and I may not have known then to look for usual residence. Lesson learnt - always go back to the original document! So now I just need to wade through the box of certificates and double check - thank you sincerely Annette - other novices beware!

I know what you mean Tish about not putting all info from a cert in to your family history software.tishgibbons wrote:More logic - I seem to have lost that microchip! I'm doing a tree and profiles of ancestors for my brother at the moment and having to go over everything in order to show all my sources, to give as much info as possible, as he was questioning how I know all these things.
Lesson - do it as you go along.
