Digging Up Your Roots

Post by Chris Paton » Sun Jan 06, 2008 6:01 pm

A new series of Digging Up Your Roots started today on BBC Radio Scotland. If you missed it, it can be heard again via the programme's website at http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/radioscot ... pyourroots

Thanks Chris,

As usual it’s an excellent programme. Presented by Claire White, and ably assisted by David W. Webster and Bruce Durie. This week’s story revolves around a “Dead Man’s Penny” and runs for 55 minutes.

Not to be confused with “Tracing Your Roots” currently having a re-run on Radio 4.

Thanks for alerting us Chris :)

I second Alan's thoughts...an excellent programme :!:

It was late last night when I started listening to the unfolding of the "Dead Man's Penny" and only got as far as the present owner and friend being given the ten names to follow up on, so now I'm looking forward to hearing the remainder of the programme and finding out the outcome :)

Regards,
Anne H

The second programme is supposed to be running i.e.

Episode Two 13/01/2008: Moving Around - Emigration, immigration or travels a bit closer to home – this week we journey into the realm of 'moving around' and ask the experts for advice on how to trace our mobile ancestors.

However, all I’m getting from the site is Programme One about the Dead Man’s Penny. Is anyone else experiencing this problem or found a link to the current one?

Hi Alan,

I'm getting a re-run of the "Dead Man's Penny" too...I'll try again tomorrow (well, tomorrow is here, so I'll try later in the day...time for bed now)

Hi Alan & Anne,
When I first tried (Sunday evening) I got a documentary on Bullying in school... tried several times and that's what the link gave me. Then, last night I tried again and, like you, was only able to access Episode 1, even though the link said it was #2. Something's certainly amiss with the website.
Regards,
Sarah

Hi all,

I had an e-mail from the producer earlier - the BBC had a technical problem with the "listen again" feature, but the correct programme should now be online.

Episode Three: Military History – now playing.

Stories on this week’s programme include that of WW2 Spitfire Pilot, Ernest Russell Lyon. You will remember this story from postings by Puffin on this thread.
