Scary stuff?.....
Were there any witchcraft trials in Scotland; and, if so, when did they end?

There was a famous case where one of the Maxwells of Pollok House was supposedly bewitched, that was in the late 1600's.

HMS Barham
Helen Duncan was a psychic from Stirling and in 1941 whe was jailed as a witch.
This is the true story of a woman sent to prison accused of being a witch when she was a well-known and proven psychic.
During WWII Helen's accurate 'death notices' were verified countless times.
When she materialized the full form of a sailor with the name H.M.S. BARHAM on his cap, a ship, which the English government denied, had been sunk; she was arrested and jailed as a spy and then a witch. Even after she was proven correct, she was held as a witch.
Her story is still unfolding today see her website at http://members.tripod.com/~helenduncan/

This is a particularly useful website if you are interested in Scottish witches. Searching by surname is rather handy

In 1649 a Kilwinning woman Bessie Graham was charged and convicted of Witchcraft. Alexander BOG or BOAG a well know witch hunter from Irvine gave evidence at the trial.Dennis wrote:Were there any witchcraft trials in Scotland; and, if so, when did they end?
