Livingstone Place, Cross Place and maybe South Street?

The first letter could be a 'B' on the third one. The 'B' at the beginning of Barony looks similar.

I agree with Livinstone Place & Cross Place. Could the 3rd one be Scott Street (maybe I'm seeing things that aren't there because I know there's a Scott Street in Barony!). If the image came from SP, does the free header help?

Thanks Anne & Muriel,

The first two are what I thought.
The header for the 3rd Census is Anderston .This area would fit in with other data.
It is very hard to read as you can tell from the Census page.

Cheers,
Maureen

Hi Maureen,

On looking at the free header page on SP, it looks more like Perth Street written there.

All the best,

Hi Andrew,

:? :? :?

Perth / South /or Scott ?
My Street index for Glasgow shows a Scott Street relevant to the area but no Perth Street,

Perth Street, Anderston

Post by Jack » Fri Jun 06, 2008 11:00 am

There is a Perth St. Anderston on the NLS maps.

Select Glasgow [1892-4],
Select Centre Square,
Select V.10.8 (3rd from left - 4th up),
Near bottom right of map Perth St runs NE off Main St.

ps; Perth St. was probably demolished sometime the 1960s.
Main St was later renamed as (the western continuation of) Argyle St.

Thanks Liz,
Good of you to get that info... :D

I think i now understand what happened....seems Perth St. today is a new one.
Built where the old one was, or very near to it anyway.
Massive redevelopment certainly took place in that area from about the mid 1960s onwards.

I've had a wee look at some older Glasgow A-Z maps (which aren't always 100% reliable).
1955 & 1965 Area similar to 1892...Perth St shown, also a school near enough to where St. Patrick's is today.
1973 & 1978 maps don't show Perth St, nor any school, just blank spaces...
...all around that part of Argyle St (ie old Main St.), which now doesn't continue to Anderston Cross.
1986 now shows a school, but not Perth St.
1993+ shows the school, and a mention once more of Perth St..
