Help with location of birth place

Post by Maz » Tue Jun 10, 2008 12:28 pm

Was wondering if anybody knew about a place called Undercliff , Tarbet, Kilcalmonell. On a relative's birth certificate it is stated as his place of birth in 1913. He was born before his parents married so am wondering if Undercliff was a hospital or something similar for unwed mothers. :?:

Thanks in advance for any help

Hello Maz,

I’m not much help with the geography but this might be a clue. It looks like it could be a building of some description in Harbour Street although not necessarily the original.

Later: Is there more than one Tarbet/Tarbert in A&B?

A bit more,

If you go here you’ll see an address “Undercliff 66 Harbour Street, Tarbert, Argyll”

And here you’ll see a picture of the front of the building and a bit about it.

Hopefully it’s the right one but if so what was it in 1913?

Thanks Alan you managed to find more than I could. Will leave this mystery for a while and move on to another one.
