Piccadilly Street Glasgow

Post by Lizzie » Fri Jun 27, 2008 1:38 pm

Hi all,

Would anyone know in what area Piccadilly Street Glasgow was in 1875?
I am trying to find a birth record of Willam Rankin b. in that year to parents John Rankin and Elizabeth McDade married 1871 usual residence 511 Piccadilly St. Glasgow.
I have their marriage certificate from SP but cannot find other records in IGI.

Hi Lizzie,

I think it was Anderston. 644-08 up until 1874, and 644-10 after that. I knew because I had ancestors there in 1868.

Researching: Easton ( Renfrewshire, Dunbarton and Glasgow), Corr (Londonderry and Glasgow), Carson (Co. Down, Irvine, Ayrshire and Glasgow), Logan (Londonderry and Glasgow)

Hi Elizabeth,

The extracts from the Scottish birth records on the IGI stop at the end of 1874. The extracts from the Scottish marriage records are up to the end of 1875.

All the best,

Hello Elizabeth,

What was John's occupation and age when they married?

Regards,
Annette

Thank you Nina, Andrew and Annette, after looking at the whole story of why I could never find the answer in the past I realised they were Irish and that being so the mystery will remail unsololved.

Many thanks again,

Elizabeth
