Where Do The McDonalds Come From ?

Post by darylrodger » Wed Nov 12, 2008 11:10 pm

Hi,

I was hoping someone could help me with one. I'm trying to find out where Kilmonivaig is. I know it's in Inverness, but is it near Lochaber?
It's so I can decide which branch of the McDonald clan we belong to. :?

Thanks,

Daryl

Hi Daryl,
Just go to a map site, such as http://www.multimap.com and type in Kilmonivaig, click on "find" and there you'll have it!

All the best,
Sarah

Hello Daryl,

Kilmonivaig lies to the south-west of Loch Lochy in the Great Glen which stretches between Fort William and Inverness.

It is much nearer Fort William and Ben Nevis than Inverness.

Glencoe, where your people were so heartlessly massacred, is not far off.

Spean Bridge, where the Commandos trained during WW2 and where the Famous Commando Monument now stands, is also nearby.

Lochaber is the name of the district covering this whole area and has Fort William as its main central town.

Hope this helps.

Regards, Crofter.
