Why can't I find reference to Nether Badentreth

Post by mlmaler » Fri Mar 06, 2009 5:49 pm

I have a parish record (from the area known as Blackford Parish) showing a Christening on Oct 2 1768 at Nether Badentreth.

Thanks

The nearest I can find is an Upper Badenheath on an 1895 map.
It's just to the South of Blackford village near Ogilvie Castle.

On a modern map a farm by the name of Banheath appears to be on the same spot.

On an even older map at http://www.nls.uk/maps/atlas/thomson/531.html I did spy a Net Banheath to the North of Ogilvie Castle just south of Blackford.

I can remember just where on that map I clicked to find it though  bottom right section left hand side about a third of the way down I think.

Hope this helps.
Wilma
