Falls and Ells of Land.....

Hi All
Does ayone know roughly know what a "Fall" and an "Ell" Scotch Measure, would equate to knowadays. I am trying to decipher a will and he left 17 Falls and 14 Ells, Scotch measure. of land and house (I think), he then goes on to explain boundries. As this village is only about 20 miles from here I thought I might have a look to see if I could suss it out

Scotch Lineal and Land Measure
The Scotch ell was divided into 37 inches; and, though it has been found by accurate measurement to be equal to 37·0598 Imperial inches, yet it seems generally understood that it was meant to be equal to 37 Eng. or Imp. inches; 6 ells made a fall, and 4 falls, or 24 ells, made a chain. And in Land measure, 36 sq. ells = 1 sq. fall, 40 falls = 1 rood, 4 roods = 1 acre. As the Scotch chain has long been made equal to 74 Imp. feet,
To convert Scotch into Imperial acres, multiply by 1·257116
To convert Imp. into Scotch acres, multiply by 0·795476
Assuming the ell to be 37·0598 in., multiply by 1·26118, and by 0·7929
The Scotch mile = 80 chains = 80 × 74, or 74·1196 = 1973-1/3 yds, or 1976·52 yds.
